Bali

Bali showcases a whole new level of Southeast Asian exoticism south of the equator. As one of, if not the most liberal province in Indonesia, guests are treated to a wide range of things to do in Bali. From the most beautiful Hindu temples to jungle safaris, to surfing and other activities on the beach, the Island of Peace is quite the destination.

Morning of the World
The sunrises in Bali are truly something else, which is probably why locals call the island “Morning of the World.” Daybreak is the perfect time to head out on your Bali tour, starting with a visit to the temples.

Besakih Temple sits on the slopes of Mount Agung and has been around for over a thousand years. The entire complex features a total of 86 temples, each of which is unique and distinctly beautiful. More than just temples, Besakih’s location atop the mountains means you also get access to some of the scenic views of the island. The site is an active temple, so take note of proper attire; sarongs and sashes are available for rent at the gates. Visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds and other tourist traps as well.

Next on your list of activities in Bali should be Uluwatu Temple or Pura Luhur Uluwatu. Dating all the way back to the 10th century, this historic site sits atop a cliff 70 meters above the sea. With waves crashing against the rocks below and silent temples that tell of a beautiful past, Uluwatu is definitely an experience to be had. Visit just before sunset and you will witness a Kecak dance performed with the incomparable Bali sunset as backdrop.

If you’d rather see the sunset by the beach, then Tanah Lot is the place to be. This temple is, arguably, the most popular of all and is featured on most Bali tours because of its setting atop a rock formation just offshore. Visit early in the afternoon for better chances of safe passage to the base, as the actual temple itself is inaccessible to guests. Make your way back to the lookout point where there are several shops and restaurants overlooking the bay—perfect for catching the sunset and an early dinner.

Only in Bali
Hitting up Kuta Beach is one of the activities in Bali you cannot go without doing. Whether you want to sit back and enjoy the beach or catch a wave, Kuta is where you will find all the fun. More than just the open waters, the streets and alleys fronting the beachside are where you can get cheap authentic Balinese massages and some good eats, too.

The Ubud Monkey Forest is another one of the more unique things to do in Bali and is an experience you can’t find elsewhere. Here, macaques roam around freely and interacts with guests within a semi-controlled environment. Make sure to avoid bringing valuables and loose items, as the monkeys have a tendency to get curious. Also, despite the women selling bananas and other fruit near the entrance, it is best to take precaution and avoid feeding the monkeys.

Bali is an exciting destination promising all kinds of fun whether you are travelling on your own or with family and friends in tow. Plan your Bali tour and discover all the best the island has to offer.
